Howell County News is locally owned and operated by Aux Arcs Homestead Publishing, LLC, a partnership of Ron and Amanda Mendez. Howell County News was owned and operated by Kim Rich of KDR Publishing, LLC from 2001 to 2019. Ron and Amanda purchased Howell County News in July of 2019 and have endeavored to honor the spirit and integrity of the original newspaper presence.

Originally from St. Louis, Ron and Amanda Mendez relocated to the Ozarks in 2016 seeking a simpler pace of life. Ron is the Art Director and holds a degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Amanda is the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief and studied Political Science and French Language at Washington University in St. Louis. 

The Mendez family operated the historic restoration business, River City Master Crafts from 2011 to 2020. Amanda has been a professional writer since 2010 and wrote the column “The Ozarks Apprentice” under the previous owner. Ron and Amanda live on small acreage with their two children raising animals and produce for the family. 

Howell County News is your “Locally Owned, Christian Conservative Weekly.” Designated as the Republican paper in Howell County by the Missouri Press Association, the paper reports the hyper-local news in north Howell County from a family-based and faith-first perspective.
