MSU-WP to host 2nd annual welding competition

Officials at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) will host their second annual welding competition Jan. 20, 2023, at the Terry L. "Bo" Pace Industrial Science Center.
Area high school seniors who participate in a welding program at their high school or a technical training center and have an interest in welding as a career are encouraged to apply, organizers said.
Scholarships for first, second and third place will be awarded, and each participant will receive a T-shirt and other giveaways, they added.
Students at 27 area high schools and technical training centers have been invited to participate. Registration forms are available from teachers or counselors at these schools, organizers said.
"We have already received applications from area schools, so there is great interest again this year for the event," said Sheila Barton, director of workforce development at MSU-WP.
Participation is limited to 30 students this year, so those interested should contact their teachers or counselors for registration forms and return them as soon as possible, she added.
