A Word from the Chapter President

Hello, my name is Sydnie Sigert and I am currently serving as the president of the Willow Springs FFA Chapter. Over the last couple of years FFA has impacted my life in more ways than I thought would be possible. I joined FFA my sophomore year, so I was already a year behind everyone else in my grade. I had some friends on the officer team and being able to see how involved they were made me want to have a more active role in our chapter.

One of these roles inspired me to have an SAE project of showing hogs at our local fairs. Showing animals has opened up a whole new world of opportunities for me. Discovering something I was passionate about and having the ability to make a difference with it further solidified my love for agriculture.

My junior year, I was able to serve as the historian in our FFA chapter. During this year I discovered that I love being in a leadership role. To have the ability to encourage greenhands to get involved in FFA and be a person that others look for when they need help or have a question gave me a sense of purpose in this club. For that reason, I decided to run for president.

Somehow, I managed to become the president of our chapter, and within this role I am able to see direct changes in kids as they grow in the FFA. I have met so many people, made so many friends, and have had so many chances to grow as a person. FFA has given me my love for agriculture and I know I want to be involved in agriculture for the rest of my life. The chance to show animals has helped me to understand all of the many that go into raising livestock, and how those skills are transferable to my life after graduation. I will always be thankful for my experiences in our FFA chapter and the opportunities it offers its members.
