Jasper Engines expanding, will add jobs

An expansion project at the south junction of Willow Springs is expected to bring between 25 and 30 new jobs to the area.
Jasper Engines & Transmissions has begun a building project to add a new transmission facility and shipping area, adding 35,000 square feet. The facility will be 187,038 square feet after the addition.
Company personnel said the expansion is necessary due to sales growth and will allow the transmission division to grow from its current capacity of 90 units per day to 120. It also will allow the addition of another engine cell to produce late-model GM engines, growing that capacity from 130 to 160 per day.
Following a 2019 expansion that added a 31,000-square feet warehouse, the project is expected to be complete by the end of the year. The Willow Springs facility currently employs 280 full-time associates.
“We’re very thankful for the continued support from the community in locating these positions here in Missouri,” company personnel said.
Individuals wishing to apply for employment may do so at myjaspercareer.com. Interviews are under way and will continue throughout the year. The company’s goal is to hire and train new workers prior to and during project construction.
Jasper Engines & Transmissions is celebrating its 80th year, founded in 1942 in Jasper, Indiana. In 2010, Jasper became 100% associate (employee) owned and it made Forbes’ list of Best Midsize Employers in 2018.
Jasper began production at the Willow Springs facility in 2004 with a goal of producing 50 engines per day. Since then, the local facility has added more engine families and the Transmission Division. They have produced more than 300,000 engines and 130,000 transmissions coming into their 18th year in Willow Springs.
The company has expanded the facility five times in the last 10 years, including the 2019 expansion. Jasper Engines & Transmissions was named Willow Springs Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year in 2016 and was recognized as the chamber’s Large Employer of the Year in 2022.
