Willow Springs Ministerial Alliance to host Lenten Luncheons

The Willow Springs Ministerial Alliance will host a Lenten Luncheon and Devotional at the Willow Springs United Methodist Church located at 311 North Harris Street, Willow Springs, every Wednesday during Lent from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.
The location is provided by the WSUMC and a host church will provide the luncheon consisting of soup, sandwich, dessert, coffee, water or other drink, as well as the devotional.
This is a free luncheon, however, donations will be accepted to aid in the WSMA's benevolence work in the community.
What is Lent and why is it celebrated?
During Lent, many Christians observe a period for self-examination through prayer, fasting, repentance, moderation, self-denial, and spiritual discipline. The purpose of the Lenten season is to set aside time for reflection on Jesus Christ; to consider his suffering and his sacrifice, his life, death, burial, and resurrection.
When is Lent?
Lent is a period of 40 days — excluding Sundays between Ash Wednesday and Easter, as every Lord's Day is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Lenten Luncheons will be held as follows:
March 23 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Joseph Stoverink
March 30 at Westside Family Life Center with Brother Aaron Good
April 6 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church with Brother Scott Chamberlin
April 13 at First Chirstian Church with Brother Rodger Atkinson
