City Council Hears Updates on WS City Pool

The City plans to open the pool by Memorial Day weekend this summer, announced City Administrator Beverly Hicks at the City Council meeting on January 21.

The city pool and water park did not open for the 2020 season due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic, and while it stood vacant the City took the opportunity to undertake major repairs. St. Louis-based contractor Westport Pools has been working on the site since October. Westport located and repaired five leaks in the pool’s structure. The pool pump will also need to be repaired.

To date, the City has spent approximately $37,000 on the pool. They expect to spend an additional $82,000. City Administrator Beverly Hicks reported the City has saved approximately $10,000 by using its own manpower and equipment for parts of the project.
