DKG Gamma Phi meet

Twenty-one members and four guests attended the November 11 DKG Gamma Phi meeting at the Cabool United Methodist Church. President Suzette Litwiller of Ava, called the meeting to order. She led the Pledge of Allegiance and gave a Veteran's tribute in recognition of Veteran's Day. Cabool member, Donna Jones, received a state certificate for 30-years of membership and the State Communications Award for Chapter Newsletter. Forty-three childrens' books were collected to donate to the Texas County Health Department.
Cabool members hosted the November 11 meeting. Joyce Jones of Cabool, introduced talented pianist Freddy Cassevens of Dora, he played beautiful jazz standards including Autumn Leaves and a piece from the Phantom of the Opera. Hank Grosenbacher, local auctioneer, provided his time and talent to auction items. An enjoyable, successful scholarship auction was held raising more than $1,300. With this money, Gamma Phi will award three scholarships to area seniors planning to major in education. Thank you to all that provided items, gave monetary contributions and purchased items.
The Cabool United Methodist Eunice Whittaker Circle provided a delicious lunch of soups, salad, sides and an array of apple desserts. Joyce Jones eloquently decorated the tables with a fall theme.
