Drunk Driving Crash in West Plains

Two people are in critical condition in a Springfield hospital after a two vehicle crash at the intersection of US Highway 63 and State Route CC/Gibson Avenue on February 25 in West Plains.

Investigation of the crash showed a northbound Dodge Caravan operated by Daniel French, 36, of West Plains made a left hand turn at a red light at the intersection and collided with a southbound Jeep Grand Cherokee, causing one occupant of the Jeep to become entrapped and one occupant to be ejected from the Jeep.
Names of the injured parties have not been released as of press time.

French was taken into custody and placed on a 24-hour hold. Formal charges for driving while intoxicated (persistent offender) and two counts of second degree assault were filed by the Howell County prosecuting attorney’s office on February 26. Online court records indicate French will have a bond of $50,000.
