Farmers market opened Saturday

Saturday was the opening day of a farmer’s market in Willow Springs. Called The Market, the first event featured nine vendors, said Chamber of Commerce Director Kim McCormick.

Products available for sale included local USDA certified beef and pork vendors, cut flowers, floral, vegetable and herb starts, medicinal herbal products, fresh baked bread, crocheted items, homemade vanilla, soy candles, herbal salves & ointments, jams & jellies, apple cider vinegar, and crafts.

The Chamber expects to add additional produce vendors as the season progresses. New to the market this year will be junior market vendors selling fresh eggs and buskers performing live music for tips.

“For our first day in a new location, we were pleased with the traffic and know it will continue to grow as we add produce and get local entertainment to perform at our market days,” said McCormick.
