Fundraiser to Benefit Deployed Troops

The Battery Station in West Plains is raising money to provide a much-needed morale boost for a U.S. Navy squadron who have been stranded on a large aircraft carrier in the Middle East for more than 150 days.
Because of the work they do sending morale-boosting packages to deployed troops at Christmas, the team at The Battery Station has been asked to step up and help out the Dusty Dogs HSC-7, a search and rescue unit. To raise money, The Battery Station is selling 30 bricks of 0.22 ammunition for $45 each with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Dusty Dogs.
Specifically requested items include: powdered drink mixes, assorted snacks, trail mix, small stuffed groundhogs (really!), board games, playing cards, magazines, and other isolation diversions.
Organizers say the thing they need most are cards made by young kids addressed to the soldiers.
“Nothing beats a card from a child at home telling these guys and gals how much we value what they do for us and how much we care about them,” said Kevin Falkner, owner of The Battery Station.
