Lunch for five hundred

Good Graces Pharmacy served over five hundred free lunches at their annual Friends and Family Cookout on May 13.
“All 400 hamburgers and 150 hotdogs, prepared by Willow Springs' own grill master Adam Webb, were served with 400 cookies along with all the trimmings, all sponsored by or purchased locally at G&W Foods and Subway of Willow Springs. In addition, over 500 bags of chips and 400 bottles of water were provided to the community,” said owner Brandon Gregory.  “We want to thank the community for such a great turnout for food, show cars, and friendship all while thanking God for such wonderful weather.  It was a busy weekend with graduation parties, Mother's Day on Sunday, and typical Missouri ‘spring’ rain showers.”
New to the event this year was a diapers and wipes drive to support the Pregnancy Resource Center of West Plains. All donors to the drive were entered into a raffle for a gift basket, won this year by Siah Davis.
“This event is designed for the community to recognize opportunities our region has, plus be able to provide back to such gracious organizations helping our community maintain healthy options right in our own backyard,” Gregory said.
Donations of diapers, wipes, new baby items, or money can be dropped off at Good Graces Pharmacy through the end of May 2023.  A raffle for a baby afghan donated by Lalah Gregory will also continue to be raffled through the end of July, with proceeds going directly to the Pregnancy Resource Center.
There were eighteen cars lined up to participate in the event’s car show. Attendees chose two winners for Best of Show in Classic (pre-1980) and Modern (1980 – present) categories.
Bob Berry & Mary Goolsby's 1946 Studebaker won the Best in Show - Classic class, and Richard Deluna with his 2016 Ford Shelby took the Best in Show - Modern class award.
Winners of over $1,300 in door prizes were: Garet Spencer, Debra Cadanau, Richard Cadanau, Oksana Miller, Kathy Carr, Earl Wilso, Martha Lawler, Maggie Carroll, Wanda Hayes, Lalah Gregory, Barbara Briscoe, Wayne Cole, Jackie Coulter, Sharry Lovan, James Stark, Don Raburn, Charles Daugherty, Ani Miller, Stacie Smith, and Thelma Sisco. Mary Spencer won the grand prize gift bag donated by C&R Gun & Pawn.
“We want to give a special shout of appreciation to a great community of businesses, family, and friends (new and old) for supporting us as the locally owned, hometown independent pharmacy. Without such great support, we would not be able to serve such awesome people in all their healthcare needs directly at home. We truly hold you near and dear to our hearts as our friends and family and continue to expand our abilities to match your needs!  We hope in the next year that you too shall stay in God's Good Graces and join us next year, Saturday, May 11, 2024 (the Saturday of Mother's Day Weekend) for another great cookout and even more fun for all,” Gregory said.
