Mtn. View Alderman Resigns

The Mountain View City Council met in regular session on October 11. During the meeting, Alderwoman Ellie Ferrel (formerly known as Ellie Carson) announced that she would be resigning from her council seat at the end of the October 11, session. 

The outgoing East Ward alderwoman explained that her house is for sale this, and she believed she would be unqualified to keep the Council seat. Ferrel made a recommendation for a replacement. However, Mayor Donnie Pruett does not intend to appoint a new alderman to fill the vacancy, as he is empowered to do. Instead, he intends to wait for voters to fill the seat using the April ballot. Mayor Pruett told Howell County News in a phone interview that several people are interested in the vacancy and that he hopes to avoid accusations of favoritism. Candidate filing opens on December 20.
