Murrell Elected to City Council in Close Race

John W. “Johnny” Murrell, Jr. won the race for the West Plains City Council seat on June 2. His margin of success was razor-thin, having prevailed over challenger John A. Niesen by only five votes.
The total released by the Howell County Clerk showed Murrell received 275 votes to Niesen’s 270. There were 7 write-in votes.
Murrell took his seat at the City Council meeting on June 8.
