Flooding disrupted early morning commuters in Mountain View just a few short weeks after an E3 tornado ripped through the town. Approximately 4.8 to 8 inches fell between Saturday, June 8 and the early morning hours of Sunday, June 9.
At 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 9 the Mountain View Police Department reported that all roadways along Jam Up Creek in the city limits were closed due to flooding. The flood waters began to recede around 10:30 a.m. The Liberty High School football field and track were completely flooded but initial reports are that the fieldhouse was not damaged.
Muddy water was rolling down the Jacks Fork Rivers as water levels breached the “drop off” area at Buck Hollow. The Ozark National Scenic Riverways reported the upper Current River from Montauk to Two Rivers was closed to non-motorized vessels and the entire Jacks Fork was closed to non-motorized vessels. Alley Spring Campground was also closed until further notice. Rain gages on the Jacks Fork River at Buck Hollow and Alley Spring had water levels reaching 6.5 feet as of 1:52 p.m. on Sunday, June 90. Gage height is the height of water in the river above a reference point.
