West Plains man charged with possession of child pornography

Dwane M. Porter, 72, of West Plains, Missouri, was arrested on November 1, and formally charged by the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney on November 2, with one count of promoting child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. 

Court documents show that authorities served a search warrant at Porter’s residence on Wednesday, locating a computer with software and files containing child pornography. Corporal Evan Tyrrell performed a forensic viewing of two videos in Porter’s possession and found them to contain explicit images of exploited children. 

According to the probable cause statement, Porter is a danger to the community because the defendant, “has shown a clear sexual interest in children and is a threat to every child he is near.”

Porter posted his $50,000 bond on November 3. This matter is scheduled for a bond hearing on November 13.
