ELMER ROY “LEROY” COLLINS

Elmer Roy “Leroy” Collins was born June 29, 1945, in Pontiac, Missouri, to Lloyd and Faye (Taber) Collins and passed away peacefully at his home on January 27, 2021, at the age of 75. He was united in marriage to Frances Ann Passmore on December 19, 1964, and to this union, four children were born.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Ola Collins; daughter Karen Collins: brothers, Bill, Don, Gerald, Bobby Dean; brothers-in-law, Eddie Kemper and Leroy Passmore; and sister-in-law, Sharon Passmore.

 

Leroy is survived by his wife, Frances of the home; sons, Darrell Collins and wife Faith, Darren Collins and wife Heidi all of Mountain View, MO; daughter, Beverly Collins of Mountain View, MO; brother, Elza Collins and wife Carol of Mt. Sterling, IL; brother-in-law, Leon Passmore and Ruby of Rushville, IL; sisters, Shirley Kemper of Mt. Sterling, IL, Anna Goudschaal of Ashland, MO, Sharon Hillyer and husband Dennis of Mt. Sterling, IL, Judy Phelps and husband Robert of Cairo, GA; five grandchildren, Baliey Strosnider, Brodie Collins, Amber Collins, Jake Collins, Aaron Stubbs; and a host of other grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

 

He was a hardworking man, a logger, who learned to run and operate a chainsaw by the time he was twelve years old. Leroy also was a family man, who loved music, playing horseshoes, and being with his family. He is deeply loved and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View, Missouri, with Brad Strosnider officiating. Visitation will be Friday, January 29, 2021, from 6-8:00 p.m. also at the chapel. Interment will be in Forest Dell Cemetery, Mountain View, Missouri.
