Lloyd Regnier

Lloyd Regnier was born on July 25, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Horace and Ardeth (Tracy) Regnier.  He became ill a couple of weeks ago and passed away in the early morning on November 4, 2020 at Willow Health Care Nursing Home, Willow Springs, Missouri at the age of 91 with his daughter, Riteann Ericsson at his side.

He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Florence Slegar on December 11, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois and to this union he added seven children; 4 boys and 3 girls.  Lloyd jokingly would say "I had 6 children, one every year, then there was a hiccup and then the last one; and I don't know how that happened".

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Ardeth; his wife, Elizabeth (Betty); two sisters, Gail (the late Geno) Piscelline and Janice (the late John) Boulds; his youngest son, Kent; and his grandson Jason Regnier.

He is survived by three sons, Keith of Chicago, IL; Scott (Sue) of Lombard, IL; Mark (Linda Mae) of Enoree, S.C.; and three daughters; Riteann Ericsson (Jerry Shelton) of Mountain View, MO.; Linda Regnier of Valparaiso, IN. and Corinne (David) Burkett of Marshfield, MO.; seventeen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brother, Brian, and his sister, Cheri (the late Buck) Wall.

Lloyd loved to tease his grandchildren and especially his great grandkids by asking them if they were pinch-able and then give them a little pinch.  This led to him obtaining the nickname of the Pinchy Grandpa.

Lloyd spent his early married years working for the Grayslake Gelatin Farm in Grayslake, IL..  His job was that of a field hand and in the winter months he was their mechanic.  This is where he raised his growing family.  As the children matured in age, he moved the family off the farm and procured a job as a foreman for the Knife Department for the Estes Company that made roofing equipment.  With the new job Lloyd moved the family to the Chicago west suburban town of Lombard, IL..  There he rented a house for a couple of years before purchasing a home on the north side of town in Lombard.  Ever since his farm days Lloyd loved to garden and always had a huge garden to attend to.

Lloyd was a very spiritual man and a man of faith.  He sang in the church choir as a tenor.  Lloyd and Betty sang duets together at church and sometimes he would do a solo.

After losing the love of his life, Betty, in November 2002, after 54 years of marriage, he ended up near Bolivar, MO. for about 4 years with his son Mark and family.  He then moved to Mountain View, MO. where he resided on his daughter's property, in his own double-wide home overlooking the pond and park.  He spent many an afternoon swinging on the Strombrella swing in the park.  Lloyd loved to go for walks and check out the beauty surrounding him, developing the habit of walking approximately 3 miles a day.  Lloyd enjoyed his 10 years roaming around on Riteann's farm.

April 13, 2016 Lloyd moved into the Willow Health Care Nursing Home where he made lots of friends during his four-and-a-half-year stay.  Lloyd especially loved the days when they played Noodle Ball, as he was very competitive with the other residents.

Lloyd will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Willow Springs, Missouri.  Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com
