Patricia Ann Abbott

Patricia Ann Abbott was born February 14, 1956, in Mountain View, Missouri, to Roy Dewayne and Bonnie June (Hatton) Willbanks. She departed this life on February 15, 2025, in Mountain View, Missouri, at the age of 69.

She married Dennis Duane Abbott on November 21, 1972, in Mountain View, Missouri, together they had two children, Michelle and Matthew. For part of her adult life, she worked at Angelica sewing factory where she became a well-respected member of the team. Then her family purchased Crosscut Liquor, and she successfully made it a vital thriving part of the community. She believed in hard work and staying busy, so she also helped Dennis, her partner for life, build and remodel houses.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Bonnie Willbanks; son, Matt Abbott; sister Ellen Heavin; and nephew, TJ Heavin.

She leaves behind to mourn, her devoted husband of 53 years, Dennis Abbott of Mountain View, MO; daughter, Michelle Cooper of Mountain View, MO; grandchildren, Bryce Cooper of Mountain View, MO, Cobie Abbott-Proctor of Mountain View, MO, and Christina Clinkscales of Mountain View, MO; great-granddaughter, Rinleigh Cooper of Eminence, MO; siblings, Larry (Peggy) Willbanks of Fayetteville, AR, Sharon Heavin of Ozark, MO, Tommy (Dorothy) Willbanks of Kansas City, MO, Kenny Willbanks of Rogersville, MO, and Terry Willbanks of Rogersville, MO; brother-in-law, Jim Heavin of Crane, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and extras she claimed as her own.

Pat was a loving woman, devoted to her family and her home became a gathering place for family dinners, holiday celebrations, and all impromptu gatherings. She made everyone feel welcome with a warm smile, an ear to listen, and a word of advice. She often knew what you should be doing and didn’t hesitate to tell you. Nobody was allowed to say no to a meal. When you were at her table you ate and ate well.
She was a woman looked up to by many, as a friend, mentor, and trouble-maker wrangler, whose presence brought a sense of calm amidst all the chaos. She encouraged everyone to be their best.

Family was the most important thing to her. She was the glue that held us all together, always accepting all the friends that we brought home. She brought them into the fold and made them a part of our family for life.

Pat took on many roles in her lifetime, wife, mother, sister, but her favorite by far was Mama. She loved her grandkids unconditionally and protected them fiercely, even if she did want to beat them herself from time to time.

Pat was a beacon of light for all who connected with her. To know her was to love her and get a seat at her table and a cup of coffee on her porch. Her family is her lasting legacy and a testament to her love and kindness. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 27, at Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View, Missouri, with Pastor Nicky Smotherman officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
