Sherri Phillis Gibson, 67, of Willow Springs, Missouri, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2020.   She was born May 14, 1953 in Herrin, IL, the daughter of Burnice and Audrey (Koonce) Hayes.  Sherri was married to Robert Willis Gibson on October 13, 1979 in Chicago, IL.   The duo of “Philly and Willy” was born and they just celebrated 41 years of marriage.

Sherri has a large family and extended family by birth and marriage, consisting of the Koonce, Hayes, Cravens and Gibson families.

Sherri’s greatest assets in life were her Christian faith and her family.  She performed various jobs throughout her lifetime, but her greatest pride was over 43 years as a mother, over 22 years as a grandmother and over three years as a great-grandmother.  Prior to that she was a doting Auntie!

She is survived by her husband, Robert; grandchildren she raised, Andrea and Gabriel Greer, great-granddaughters, Nevaeh and Ariel and sister, Sue Cravens of the family home; three daughters, Cherie Gault of Willow Springs, Robin Truelove of Pomona, and Heavenly Gibson and boyfriend, Randall Shepherd of Cabool; two brothers, Burnice Hayes Jr and wife, Candy of Grand Bay, AL, Larry Cravens and wife, Kacee of Mobile, AL; and a sister, who was more like a daughter,  Candace Hood and husband, Shawn of Mountain View.

The light of Sherri’s life were her grandchildren, William, Ed, Gabrielle, Gavin, Alexus, Luchion, Chance, Castiel, Isaiah, Aubrielle and baby due in May; and special nieces and nephews that were like grandchildren, Chyane, Cherokee, Ceira, Cole, Nathaniel and Briar; and those mentioned that lived in the family home.

Sherri is preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Jesse; sister, Debbie; and various family and friends.

Sherri could not wait to see Jesus.

We love you forever and a day, more than fresh pork loves salt.
