My Dear Editor:

As you know, February 3 1959 was the day music died.  The great Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper and Richie Valens were killed in a plane crash from Clear Lake, Iowa on a snow stormy night.
Now, we are putting together a great show featuring music from that era.  The STAR theater will host an array of stars demonstrating the versatility of their talent for an evening of enjoyment beginning at 7 p.m.. There is no charge for attending this show-stopping event, but donations for the STAR theater will be taken.
The agenda for the evening is still being put together, but several accomplished musicians are already on the program for the big show.
Beginning the show will be a Rock-A-Billy recording star who has made a reputation across Europe and the eastern coast of America. Carl Trantham is still regarded as one of the best in the business. "Peggy Sue'' is a Buddy Holly tune coming out of Holly's hometown of Lubbock, Texas. It is certain to be a crowd pleaser to kick off the show.
Jackie Kimbrough is no stranger to the listening audiences of south central Missouri.  Jackie has been asked to give us her version of "Sincerely" a billboard top tune of the DooWop era. Performed by the McGuire Sisters, the song remains a favorite of the listening audience.
Next up on the program is an unusual piece of music, the tune from the 1939 movie "The Wizard of Oz" is one of the greatest standards "Over the Rainbow" performed by Judy Garland.  This wonderful music will be presented by award winning Allan Strickland as a banjo solo.  You will remember this for a long time.
Bluegrass musician Miss Sharry Lovan will step out of her famed bluegrass shoes, or should we write "boots" to perform a famous Louis Armstrong number known as "All of Me"
A piano solo by accomplished pianist Brandon Coursen will thrill the audience with incomparable Roger Williams pieces, "Autumn Leaves" and "Born Free".  These are sure to be crowd pleasers.
Next up on this delightful program is a trumpet solo by Mr. Curtis Good who will bring back memories of another day with his rendition of "Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White"  This will make the hair stand up on the back of your neck.
Accomplished guitarist Mr. Rod Cash is up next with a Glenn Campbell number one selling hit, "Rhinestone Cowboy", a tune that will bring out the sing-a-long in this crowd. David Richardson, well known song stylist in this locale, will thrill the DooWop crowd with a show-stopper from this time in our past.  The piece is still being arranged, perhaps a Mel Carter tune, "Hold Me",but
will no doubt be one of the best.
Tina Hollingshad on bass and Rod Cash on lead guitar will team up to accompany Jake Campbell on a percussion solo of "Wipeout." Great is the only word for this performance.
Wendy and Ed Cline are performers par excellence who have graced the STAR Theater stage with many of Patsy Cline's top tunes. Wendy has made musical history with her performances of the great Patsy Cline numbers including "Sweet Dreams" that Patsy recorded with the Hugo Winterhalter Orchestra.  It is with great anticipation that we will invited Wendy and
Ed to come back to the STAR stage.
The fundraising show is being promoted by Wendell and Jane Bailey with support from the community. It is with hope that the will be a success so that repairs to the 100 year grand old STAR theater can be realized this summer of 2022.
