No other race had more ballots cast in Howell County than the contest between Matt Roberts and Brent Campbell for Sheriff. Roberts emerged victorious on Primary Election Day with 69.99% of the vote to Campbell’s 30.01%. There are no Democratic candidates to defeat in November.
In essence, there’s a new Sheriff in town.

The City of West Plains has selected Christopher Sterner as Fire Chief. Sterner has been serving as the Interim Fire Chief since former Fire Chief Kurt Wilbanks announced his retirement in May.
Sterner has worked in public safety in Howell County since 1995.

A local fundraiser has crowned a mac 'n cheese king. The Wayside Park Renovation Committee held a mac and cheese cook-off on Saturday, July 6 at the Mountain View Community Center. According to Ashley Loucks with the committee, it was a wonderful night. She said “(they) raised $991.00 and had ten mac and cheese entries.
