Incidents 
January 1
A West Plains man reported that he was in an argument with his girlfriend when she tried to leave in a vehicle, striking him in the right hip. The man declined medical attention and was unsure if he wanted to pursue charges against his girlfriend. 
January 3
A resident on Lanton Road in West Plains reported the theft of a vehicle from outside the residence. The vehicle was recovered on County Road 8620 after a short pursuit. 
January 4
The Rest Inn Motel in West Plains reported the theft of several items from one of the rooms at the motel. A report was generated. 
January 5
A West Plains man reported the theft of a like-new condition chainsaw. The chainsaw was taken from the man’s vehicle while it was parked outside of his residence on Private Road 1830. 
A West Plains woman called the Howell County Sheriff’s Office to report that a firearm was found at her residence that had been left by a former tenant. The woman stated that she was not legally able to possess a firearm and wished to release it to the Sheriff’s Office. No charges were filed against the woman. 
January 6
While conducting an eviction at a rental property on Jackson Street in West Plains, Deputy Jared Peterman made contact with a male subject who was removed from the premises. A report was filed with the prosecutor’s office after the male subject was found to be in possession of marijuana.
