Ribbon cutting for new Mountain View-Birch Tree School Admin Building

The Mountain View-Birch Tree R-III schools held a ribbon cutting last week to celebrate their new administration building, donated by Simmons Bank. The building, located at the corner of Elm Street and west Fifth Street, was the former Simmons Bank building before the bank moved to its current location at 105 west Sixth Street.

During the event, Community Regional Executive Steve Vines gave a speech on the donation. “I was working here as a teller the day we opened the doors in January 1991,” Vines said about the building.

He worked with the former Landmark Bank during the time it was expanded to cover loan processing for the company. He also extended thank yous to the former superintendent Dr. Don Christensen for his involvement and current superintendent Lanna Tharp, her staff, and the school board for working with him to provide the building to the district.

Superintendent Tharp gave her appreciation for the building. “I'm deeply touched by the generosity of Simmons Bank whose contribution of the new office building is nothing short of extraordinary.” She also offered thanks to Dr. Christensen and Vines for their work on this project. “With this new office building, you've not only provided us with a physical space, but also instilled in us a renewed sense of purpose and pride.” She offered her deepest thanks to Simmons Bank for the stellar space for helping meet the needs of the Liberty Eagles.

Among those gathered at the event included members of the Mountain View-Birch Tree school board, the recently elected mayor Charry McCann, members of school faculty, and families. The event was catered by Petrova's Pastries & Mixings.
