The Icon Lives On

Ozarks Trading Post Re-opens
The Ozarks Trading Post has been a part of the Mountain View community for several decades. Offering a variety of merchandise from musical instruments, guns, saddles, and more, the Trading Post has been a place to buy, sell, and trade for generations. After a brief closure, the shop switched hands and re-opened under new management.
The Reese family purchased the shop from the Orchard and Frazier families with intent to keep the store-front living on. “This place has always been kind of an icon in Mountain View. It’s been here for forty-three years,” said shop owner/manager Randy Reese.
Not only do the Reeses want to keep this iconic business alive in Mountain View, but they also want to keep the live music tradition going. The shop has featured many local stars like The Baker Family, and the Bradshaws as well as travelers from all over the United States who stop in, said Reese.
“People from all over have enjoyed playing music here for years. We would like to see that keep happening,” he said.  “We would also like to do a canopy at Pioneer Days with live music being played underneath like it has been done in the past.”
Reese went on to add they are planning a grand opening to be held at the business sometime soon. “We would like to do some cooking and invite people in,” Reese expressed.
The Ozarks Trading Post is located at 121 N. Oak Street, in Mountain View. Store hours are 8:30 to 5 Monday-Friday, and 9-1 on Saturday. If you have questions, you may call them at, 417-934-6410.
