With a commanding 18-point lead over her closest opponent, Lisa Durnell won the Republican nomination for Representative of the 154th District in the Missouri House. To win the seat, Durnell must defeat Democrat JoJo Stewart in the general election in November. Stewart received 594 votes on Primary election day in Howell County.
Durnell defeated Mark B. Collins and Larry Lindeman for the Republican nomination. She received 4,109 votes to Collins’ 2,712 and Lindeman’s 815.
“I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who came to the polls on Tuesday and exercised their right to vote. To those who supported me at the ballot box and everyone who contributed to my campaign, I sincerely appreciate your votes and efforts,” Durnell said in a victory statement.
“This is what a grassroots campaign looks like: many people working together to bring a name and message to the public through door-knocking, word-of-mouth, debates, and other speaking engagements.
I commend Larry Lindeman and Mark Collins for their contributions to this political process and wish them well in their future endeavors. I hope all Republicans in this district can now unite and support their chosen Republican candidate as we move toward the General Election in November.
As I move forward, I will continue to emphasize that I am the best-suited person to represent this district, as I will bring a consistent, conservative voice to this seat. I plan to work hard from now until the general election, engaging more with folks throughout the district.”
