Candidate filing for the August Primary closed statewide on March 26, but not in the 154th district, announced the Secretary of State. Additional filings, for Rep. David Evans’ seat only, will be accepted from April 2, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. through April 5, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.
“Pursuant to RSMo. 115.361 – section 4; if a candidate withdraws within two working days prior to the close of filing, that position will reopen for filing on the first Tuesday after the established close,” explained Secretary Jay Ashcroft in a release. Representative Evans withdrew on March 25.
District 154 joins a handful of other districts throughout the state, and the office of the Lieutenant Governor, in extended filing due to this statute.
The race is on for the seat that represents Howell County – three Republicans have filed, and so has one Democrat.
The August Primary is a contest among Lisa Durnell, of Willow Springs, Larry Lindeman, and Mark Collins, both of West Plains. The winner will face Democrat JoJo Stewart at the general election in November.
