Death on train tracks under investigation

A Willow Springs woman lost her life on September 17 on the train tracks in Pomona. The body of Megan E. Corman, 37, was found after Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF) reported that a train crew saw a person on the railroad tracks who was subsequently hit by an oncoming train, according to Howell County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded at approximately 11:30 a.m. According to the initial release, preliminary investigation indicates the victim was, “laying on the tracks in the path of the oncoming train.”
The death is under active and ongoing investigation. Public Information Supervisor Angela Conboy said Friday, “The autopsy is being performed this week, and I am not sure how long it will take to get the results back.”
Conboy said an update is forthcoming once their office receives the results from the County Coroner.
