Double the Fun in ‘21: Mtn View Alumni Meet

The 2021 Mountain View Alumni annual meeting was themed “Double the Fun in ‘21” and was held on Saturday, July 3, at the Mountain View Christian Church. Honor photos were taken of Lillian Fehr Pruett (1949), Lorene Lee Woolsey (1950), Moe Simpson (1945) and the classes of 1960, 1961, 1970 and 1971. SuEllen DeBoard Price welcomed 140 classmates and guests to the evening dinner meeting.  The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Ted Hall, class of 1970, followed by singing of the National Anthem by Estella Due Smith, class of 1964, and her daughter, Debi Campbell, Liberty class of 1991. The Invocation was given by Gary Murrell, class of 1971, while wearing his Pirate letter jacket; a highlight of the evening.  Entertainment was provided by Honor Class speakers 1960 – Katherine McAllister Eschrich; 1961 – Howard Henry; 1970 – Bill Hoover; 1971 – Julie Hall Brown.
The Scholarship Committee Chair, Donna Leonard, class of 1969, announced the 2021 recipients of the four $1200 scholarships presented to Liberty graduates: Jenna Burks, Aubrey Hite, Kelsea Martin and Kiah Reese.
The class count winner was the class of 1970 with 22 classmates present.  The earliest classmate was Moe Simpson of the class of 1945; farthest traveled was Bill Page (1970) from California, and the Davis family had the most members present: Hellen, Wanda, Jeanne and Eva.
Winners of the Scholarship fundraiser drawings by Edwin Woolsey were Paul O’Brien, Julie Hall Brown and Charles Shorter.
The evening closed with singing both school songs led by Linda Depee David and James DeBoard. The next annual meeting will be on July 2, 2022.
