Drive-through Easter Event Spreads Joy to Local Families

Mercy St. Francis Hospital and the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce put together a drive-through "Egg Drop" event.  As an alternative to the annual egg hunt, staff from Mercy and Viandel Vineyard handed out treat bags to 283 children in 134 cars.
"We spread a lot of joy," said Cindy Weatherford, administrator of Mercy St. Francis Hospital. "It was so good to see so many of our friends and neighbors."
One lucky child in each age group found a golden coin in their treat bag, which won them a new bike. The bicycles were sponsored by Simmons Bank, West Plains Bank, Smokin' Sams and Cantrell & Nicholson, LLC. Winners also received new bike helmets, courtesy of West Plains Bank, Smokin's Sams, and Marilyn Sharp. Sonic and McDonald's donated items for the treat bags.
"We hope by next year, we can bring back the annual egg hunt," Weatherford said. "But this event was still so much fun, and we hope it truly blessed our community."
