Election Results

Only 10.61% of registered voters in Howell County showed up at the polls to vote in the April 5 General Election. According to unofficial results published by the County Clerk's office, 2,887 ballots were cast. There are 27,212 registered voters in the county.

The Law Enforcement Tax Initiative passed. Voters approved a one-quarter of one percent sales tax to benefit the Howell County Sherriff's Department.

R-IV School Board
Voters in the district, which spans Howell County and reaches to parts of Douglas and Texas Counties, unseated the two incumbent members of the Willow Springs R-4 School Board and voted in two challengers. Jeff Lovan and Jeffrey Cunningham will take their seats at the April 11 meeting.

Willow Springs City Council
Kim Rich will take her seat as the Ward 1 Alderman in Willow Springs after receiving 58% of the vote. David Collins ran unopposed in Ward II and was elected with 94.87% of the vote. There were four write-in votes in the Ward II race.

Mountain View Mayor
Alderman John Krasuski was elected mayor in Mountain View. He will take his seat at the April 11 meeting of the Board of Aldermen. Mountain View City Ordinances require the Board to fill the vacant alderman's seat, but as of press time that appointment is not on the April 11 meeting agenda.

Mountain View Board of Aldermen
Voters in the City of Mountain View ousted incumbent Alderwoman Judi Colter. Recently appointed incumbent Alderwoman Laura Wagner kept her seat for the remainder of the one-year term. In the contest for the West Ward seat, voters opted for Lindell Vandevort.

West Plains City Council
The three challengers in the race for Councilwoman Jessica Nease's seat split the vote, and the incumbent will retain her seat after receiving one-third of the ballots. Appointed Councilman John Niesen was retained by voters to finish his unexpired term.
