A former Howell County Deputy and Willow Springs Police Department officer pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of stealing and will be on unsupervised probation under a suspended imposition of sentence.
Brian N. Jackson’s original pair of felony charges for stealing were headed to trial this month, but before the trial took place, he pleaded guilty to an amended misdemeanor charge.
In August, Jackson was accused of falsifying records of DWI stops and other hazardous moving violation enforcement activities. These false records allowed him to collect thousands of dollars in unearned, tax-funded pay. At the time of the arrest, Howell County Sheriff Matt Roberts called Jackson’s actions, “deliberate, long-term theft.”
The defendant pled and was sentenced in Howell County Court by the Honorable Steven Privette on April 20.
