Fourth of July Parade

The traditional Independence Day parade took place on Saturday, July 3. Proud Americans lined both sides of Main Street to watch the parade and catch candy. The parade opened with a phalanx of motorcycles that were followed by the high school marching band, historical characters, red, white, and blue vehicles, riders on horseback, local dance studios, and fire trucks with sirens and lights blazing.
After the parade, the 13th Annual Spirit of 1776 took place at the Historic Star Theatre. As a special addition to the program, the Southern Ozarks Community Orchestra performed a patriotic program before historic characters took to the stage to give talks about their impact on American history. The orchestra perform was particularly special because the group had not performed together in more than a year. Their program featured selections such as America, the Beautiful and an Armed Forces Salute before closing with the classic Stars and Stripes Forever.
