Howell County 911 appoints new director, recognizes former chairman

At the February meeting of the Howell County 911 Board of Directors, Nate Franks was appointed as the new Director, replacing former Director Robbie Crites. Franks has been with the agency for 12 years, as a dispatcher, radio technician and Assistant Director. Franks serves on a number of Boards, including the Region G Homeland Security Oversight Committee and as the Regional Representative for the Missouri Association of Public Safety Communication Officials (APCO). Franks also has 25 years in the Fire Service, including service with the Howell-Rural Fire Department and Peace Valley Fire Department and is a Fire and Emergency Services Instructor as well as a Technical Rescue Instructor.
The Board of Directors also recognized former 911 Board Chairman Ralph Riggs. On November 25, 2008, Riggs was appointed to the Howell County 911 Emergency Services Board and served as Board Treasurer until April 28, 2010 when he became Board Chair, a position he held until his resignation on December 31, 2022. The Board presented Riggs with a plaque that reads “In Sincere Appreciation of Ralph Riggs, For 14 years of Dedicated and Loyal Service to the Citizens of Howell County. Thank you.” The Board also expressed best wishes to Riggs in his new position of Howell County Presiding Commissioner.
Jeff Ward of Willow Springs was sworn-in as a Board of Director to fill an open board position. Ward is the Administrator of the Willow Springs Ambulance District. Board Member Beverly Hicks of Willow Springs was appointed as Chair of the Board.
