Howell County Commission Agendas

The Howell County Commission met on May 19, 23, 26 and 27.
On May 19, the Commission approved Resolution 2022-R5, which defines minimum specifications for the acceptance of all existing private roads and new roads as county roads. They also reviewed the April general ledger report.
On May 23, the Commission was scheduled to approve Commission Order 2011-O11 for the abatement and additions of tax assessment for April 2022. They were also scheduled to review and approve Grant 20-09 with the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney for the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Contract. Representatives with Current Electric were scheduled to meet with the Commission on that Monday as well.
On May 26, the Commission was scheduled to review and consider bids for four new motor graders.
On May 27, they approved county payroll.
For the foreseeable future, agendas will include discussion to consider a full-time Prosecuting Attorney position on the August 2 ballot, to appoint a board member to the Health Department Board, and to consider and award American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) requests. According to County Clerk Kelly Waggoner, the county is in the “beginning stages of decisions” regarding ARPA funding, but early discussion has tended toward using the funds for infrastructure.
Agendas regularly include approving any accounts payable and recognizing any guests who appear.
Your Howell County commissioners are Presiding Commissioner Mark Collins, Northern Commissioner Calvin Wood, and Southern Commissioner Billy Sexton. The commission meets in regular session on Mondays and Thursdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The meetings remain open during the lunch hour and are open to the public. Contact the commissioners’ chamber by phone at (417) 256-3872.
