Investigation Recovers Thousands in Stolen Property

“I would like to bring to the attention to Howell County Citizens the following investigation,” said Howell County Sheriff Brent Campbell in a press release.  “[I] commend the related staff [for their] attention to detail and follow-through and [for a] great example of looking beyond the stop or associated call for service that resulted in the following.”
On June 11, shortly before 6:00 a.m., Deputy Matt Roberts and Deputy Melanie Roam responded to Private Road 4631 regarding a report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, the deputies met with the reporting party and the possible suspect, Thomas Kazimir. It was determined Kazimir had not committed crime at that location.
However, during the course of the investigation it was determined Kazimir may have been in possession of stolen items. As a result, 45 stolen items with a combined value of approximately $4,800.00 have been recovered in Howell County. These items were reported stolen in nine burglaries and thefts from Howell County, Shannon County, Polk County, Willow Springs, Mo, and Springfield, Mo. According to the Sheriff’s office, the investigation into the stolen items with a connection to Kazimir remains ongoing. The investigation revealed stolen items that had yet to be reported missing, as of the date of the recovery.
Numerous other stolen items have been located in pawn shops across the state. These items are valued in excess of $2,000. Howell County Sheriff’s deputies are currently working with the victims and the pawn shops to ensure the stolen property can be claimed by the rightful owners.
As part of the investigation, Lt. Torey Thompson and Deputy Matt Roberts applied for and were granted a search warrant for a residence in Howell County. Upon serving this search warrant, another $1,085.00 in stolen property was recovered. Additional suspects and charges are being sought as a result of these items recovered.
Kazimir is currently being held in the Howell County Jail with a $15,000 bond. As the investigation continues, deputies will be forwarding additional charges to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney. As of press time, five counts of stealing and two counts of burglary have been filed against the accused.
Deputies continue to attempt to locate and recover numerous other stolen items associated with these thefts and burglaries. These items include Stihl Chainsaws, Stihl Leaf Blowers, a Stihl Weed eater and DeWalt Cordless power tools.
