Lenten Luncheons

The Willow Springs Ministerial Alliance is hosting a Lenten Luncheon and Devotional at Willow Springs United Methodist Church, 311 North Harris Street, Willow Springs, Mo 65793, every Wednesday during Lent from 12 (noon) to 1 p.m. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend each week.
The location is provided by WS UMC and a host church will provide the luncheon; soup, sandwich, dessert, and coffee, water or other drink, as well as the devotional.
This is a free luncheon, however donations will be excepted to aid in the WSMA’s benevolence work in our community.
What is Lent and why is it celebrated?
During Lent , many Christians observe a period for self-examination through prayer, fasting, repentance, moderation, self-denial, and spiritual discipline. The purpose of the Lenten season is to set aside time for reflection on Jesus Christ -- to consider his suffering and his sacrifice, his life, death, burial, and resurrection.
When is Lent?
It is a period of 40 days, excluding Sundays, between Ash Wednesday and Easter, as every Lord’s Day is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Schedule (all luncheons take place at WS UMC at noon):
March 8, hosted by Westside Family Life Center, devotional by Brother Arron Good
March 15, hosted by First Baptist Church, devotional by Brother Jason Gunter
March 22, hosted by First Christian Church, devotional by Brother Bob Martin
March 29, hosted by Sacred Heart Catholic Church, devotional by Father Joseph Stoverink
