Less than $10 Increase

The bitter cold temperatures during the February 2021 weather event caused the City of Willow Springs to incur a total of $889,247.58 in actual electrical demand and energy costs. When the City received the initial invoice from the Missouri Public Utility Alliance (MPUA) in March, they began making payments to bring the balance down.
City Administrator Beverly Hicks informed the City Council during the July 19 meeting that the City was approved for a five-year loan at zero interest in the amount of $615,302.93. The City will be making 59 monthly installments of $10,428.87 to pay the balance.
This will increase the average residential family’s electric bill in Willow Springs by approximately $7.00 - $9.00 per month.
