Mountain View Festival Featured More Than Food

Music could be heard echoing throughout downtown Mountain View on Saturday as the Downtown Food Truck, Music and Art Festival began. Food vendors lined half of First St. and the Chamber of Commerce parking lot. Art and craft vendors occupied Southwest Baptist University’s lawn. Originally conceived as a food truck festival, the event also featured a large number of crafters and artists.
“I think that’s how it was kind of advertised though. A fun place for artisans to set-up and showcase. It is so nice to see a festival like this one,” said Lori Edwards owner of Willowisp, and First Street Warehouse Antiques and Collectibles in Willow Springs.
Saturday's warm temperatures prompted the use of misting hoses for the crowds of vendors and shoppers to enjoy.
The event also featured a kiddie pool and Slip N’ Slide provided by the Mountain View Family Youth Center.
“Definitely what this old town needs,” Kyleigh Noble, a Mountain View native commented regarding Saturday’s festivities.
Josh Treppish, a food vendor and co-owner of Short N’ Sweet, took a moment from serving customers to reflect on their food truck journey saying, “We started this two months ago, my wife and I. We wanted to spend more time together and we decided to make 2021 our year.”  Sylvia Tegan Vaughn, sponsor and one of the hosts for Saturday’s event said, “It is the first of its kind. We hope to do it again. For the town, by the town. That is how we have looked at it.”
“We would like to thank everyone for coming out,” Vaughn continued, “There appears to be hundreds of people here. We appreciate our sponsors. We could not have done it without you. We would also like to thank SBU for their green space, the city of Mountain View, Mountain View Family Youth Center, and everyone who helped out.”
Saturday’s festival was home to almost thirty different art and craft vendors, twelve food vendors and seven different musical entertainers. The Downtown Food Truck, Music & Art Festival was hosted by Foster’s Appliance, The Neighborhood Tribe, The Neighborhood Orchard, and Sylvia Tegan Vaughn.
