Mtn. View Garden Club makes mud balls during February meeting

The Mountain View Garden Club held it's February meeting at 1:00 p.m. on February 22 at the Mountain View Community Center. "For The Birds" was the title of the program that was presented by Mary West. After the meeting the members gathered in the kitchen to make "mud balls". To make these mud balls, mix clay soil with native flower seeds and just enough water to hold the soil together. Once the ball is formed it's placed in a tray, or eggs cartons, if you have them available. The balls are then stored in a dry location for a couple of months so that they can dry. After the April meeting the members will have fun throwing these mud balls on the hillside along Highway 60, in front of the Mercy St. Francis Hospital. The perennial seeds contained in these balls should provide quite a colorful display throughout the summer and fall months and for many years to come.
