Mtn. View woman fights, tries to bite cops during arrest

A Mountain View woman is currently being held in the Howell County Jail with bond set at $25,000 after assaulting officers.

 

The incident began at 9:01 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10 as officers with the Mountain View Police Department were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway WW and Highway 17.

 

Officers made contact with the driver, identified as Didi Drexler of Mtn. View. While speaking with Drexler, officers noted a strong odor of intoxicants, according to court documents. The defendant refused the officers' request for identification and became aggressive, and officers attempted to arrest her for disorderly conduct.

 

She actively resisted hand restraints and grabbed at the officers' legs, throwing herself onto the ground and attempting to bite.

 

After being placed in the patrol unit, Drexler became uncooperative when officers had to remove a dog from the vehicle and began, "slamming her head into the bars on the window and thrashing her body against the back of the patrol car". When they arrived at the station, Drexler refused the Alcohol Influence Report (AIR), but admitted to drinking. During questioning Drexler repeatedly made derogatory remarks to officers.

In an attempt to leave the station, Drexler struck and kicked an officer. A deputy with the Howell County Sheriff's Department arrived to assist in transporting Drexler to the patrol vehicle, at which time she began to resist again. While being placed in the patrol unit, Drexler kicked and struck an officer.

 

Drexler was taken to the Howell County Jail where her bond was set at $25,000 for two counts of felony assault-third degree-special victim and misdemeanor DWI. During her arraignment hearing on Tuesday, Aug. 12 Drexler pled not guilty to the charges. A case review was held on Friday, Aug. 15 and a criminal setting was scheduled for Monday, Aug. 18.
