Ozarks Healthcare Behavioral Health Center to (BHC) to host Therapeutic Youth Summer Camp

Ozarks Healthcare’s Behavioral Health Center (BHC) is currently accepting registrations for a therapeutic youth summer camp. Trained therapists and staff from Ozarks Healthcare’s BHC will be onsite for the duration of the camp to share communication skills, coping mechanisms, self-esteem tips, and more education regarding mental health with participating youth. The camp will also include traditional summer camp aspects, such as arts-and-crafts sessions, games, and field trips.
“We are excited to be able to offer this safe and educational mental health experience for our area kids this summer,” Billie Weaver, Youth Team Supervisor at Ozarks Healthcare’s BHC, said. “With COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations being so high the last two summers, traditional summer experiences were not able to be as enjoyed by kids in our area. This camp will address healthy relationships with learning, emotional, and behavioral health while providing summer fun.”
The camp will be held in four different sessions for children in third through eighth grades, plus a special date for West Plains Boys and Girls Club members:
3rd-4th Grades – June 20-24
5th–6th Grades – June 27 – July 1
7th–8th Grades – July 18 – 22
West Plains Boys and Girls Club Members – July 25 – 29
The camp will be hosted at the West Plains Girls Scout Hut located at 435 S. Aid Ave. Transportation will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for participating youth during camp dates upon request.
Parents and guardians of children interested in participating are asked to call 417-257-6762 or come by Ozarks Healthcare’s Behavioral Health Center (BHC) located at #23 Parkway Center at 1211 Porter Wagoner Blvd. in West Plains by June 15 to register. Space is limited.
