After flooding forced a reschedule, a benefit concert for tornado victims took place this weekend in Mountain View. Local musician Brandy Lee hosted the benefit concert at Veteran’s Park on Sunday.
An EF-3 tornado ripped through the town, injuring one. Eight homes were destroyed, sixteen were damaged, and one business was damaged. Storm clean-up cost the taxpayers of Mountain View $120,136.
The event raised over $3,400 from raffle tickets, auction items, and donations. Sacrifice the Truth, Charlie Nelson and County Nights Band, and Brandy Lee performed free of charge.
“We had a few dozen in the park listening and contributing throughout the whole day,” organizers said. “Almost everyone there was very generous. We served hot dogs and hamburgers, chips, desserts, drinks, etc. I think everyone had a good time listening to the music and having fun winning raffle items. [Organizer Brandy Lee] had so many people that helped and donated to the event it's hard to list them all, but she/we are very appreciative of all of them…The event went very well.”
