The benefit show to raise funds for the Historic Star Theatre in downtown Willow Springs took place on March 14. Despite frequent cancellations of gatherings due to concerns over coronavirus, Stars at the Star proceeded and drew a crowd of close to 100 attendees.
Performer Sharry Lovan announced the event raised more than $5,000 to benefit the historic theater.
In addition to several local music and dance acts, the event featured a silent auction. Perhaps the item that gained the most attention in the auction was a package of toilet paper and hand sanitizer donated by Lakeland Pharmacy, poking fun at the bare shelves in area stores where panicked consumers have completely cleaned out these hygiene items.
