Members of the IAM Local 2782 machinists’ union have been in a labor dispute with their employer, Leonardo DRS, of West Plains, since May 1. Howell County News has been in contact with members of the union since April 25. IAM Local 2782 distributed a press release on May 11 calling the dispute, “a lock out.” Machinists have been on a picket line at Leonardo DRS locations and near the new Independence Dr. overpass since May 1. 

 

As of Friday, May 29, representatives of Leonardo DRS were declining to answer questions, “while discussions and related processes are ongoing.”

 

On May 30, the union announced a vote, “bringing an end to a difficult lockout while securing significant improvements in wages, benefits and paid time off.”

 

The News has reached out to Leonardo DRS for comment now that the dispute has allegedly been resolved, and that story, or the story disclosing any response from the employer, will appear in the next edition of Howell County News.
