Two arrested in Hazel Street search warrant

West Plains Police arrested two people following a narcotics-related search warrant on a Hazel Street residence on January 8.  In the process of the search, suspected methamphetamine, paraphernalia, and several pills were recovered.

The West Plains Police Special Response Team enacted the search warrant on the residence in the 200 block of Hazel Street shortly after 10 am on Wednesday, Jan. 8, according to court documents. A release by the department states that two people were arrested but, court documents note that numerous occupants of the residence were detained during the search. One of those, Chelcey Thompson, 29, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. In a pink, upstairs room, police found a white glass smoking pipe with suspected methamphetamine and a white baggie containing a similar substance. A post-Miranda interview of Thompson alleges she had been living in the pink room for two months and that she told police she thought they had located her pipe and a couple of empty baggies, admitting the substance was methamphetamine.

A male subject was also taken into custody on active warrants, according to police, but was not identified in Thompson's court documents. Thompson was released the same day on a $5,000 surety bond.
