Two people from Dora have been arrested and charged with gun and drug offenses following a traffic stop in West Plains. Cyon T. Patterson, 42, and Ciera R. Ince, 34, were arrested by West Plains Police on October 1 and are currently being held in the Howell County Jail.
The couple was arrested following a traffic stop performed by Corporal Thomas Manning of the West Plains Police Department. Manning spotted the vehicle with an expired Missouri registration, according to court documents. He spoke with Ince, the driver, and saw her driver's license was expired. Manning said he recognized Patterson from previous law enforcement encounters.
A police K9 unit performed an air sniff of the vehicle and alerted, indicating the presence of narcotics. Manning said the search yielded a container with suspected methamphetamine within a purse in the driver's seat. He also recovered a glass smoking device with suspected methamphetamine residue and a loaded 9mm handgun from the vehicle's center console.
Post-Miranda interviews with the pair didn't match up, according to the documents. These say that Ince said the drugs were not hers and she believed they were Patterson's. Patterson allegedly told police he was aware the two did possess the methamphetamine, and he believed they had three quarters of a gram to a gram and a half of the drug. The drug tested positive for methamphetamine through the Tru Narc system.
Patterson is charged with possession of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a weapon – subsection 11 – possessing a weapon and a felony controlled substance, and unlawful possession of a firearm – dangerous felon/prior conviction and has a bond of $50,000 cash or corporate surety. Ince is charged with controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon – subsection 11 – possessing a weapon and a felony controlled substance and has a bond of $25,000 cash or corporate surety.
Patterson is a convicted felon for first-degree burglary out of Green County and is prohibited from possessing a firearm according to Missouri law.
