Two from Mtn. View charged for January incident

Two Mountain View residents were charged this week in Howell County for property damage reported earlier this year.
Courtney A. McDaniel, 41, and Jeremiah C. Dickson, 37, have been charged with first-degree property damage, a felony. McDaniel served as city clerk in Mountain View from June 2020 to March 2021 confirms City Hall.
The charges stem from an incident reported to the Howell County Sheriff’s Department Jan. 1. A deputy received a report from a 16-year-old girl who was notified by McDaniel that Dickson threw her personal belongings into their yard the night before while it was raining.
McDaniel reportedly advised the girl to come collect her items from the yard. The girl obtained one load of belongings and upon her return the next day, court records state, most of the remaining items had been burned or destroyed due to the inclement weather. The girl estimated the total damages to her belongings to be about $1,600.
In February, the sheriff’s department was contacted by the girl’s father, who stated he wanted to pursue charges of abuse or neglect of a child on his daughter’s behalf.
