Waterline Break Results in Loss of Service West of Willow Springs

Members of Howell County Public Water Supply #3 west of Willow Springs lost water when a primary main line was cut by a crew laying internet fiber optic cable along State Route Z south of Highway 76. One hundred to one hundred fifty customers were without water Wednesday, May 26 in an area extending south on Route Z to the Burnham and Lost Camp communities. The break was repaired approximately four hours later by workers employed by the water district, along with the help of the construction company installing the cable. Utilities in this area are all installed in a ten-foot corridor. The public water supply office located nearby had repair protocols in place in anticipation of a possible break. A boil order was issued Thursday while lines were cleaned and cleared after the repairs, allowing the order to be quickly lifted.
