West Plains youth appointed to West Point

U.S. Representative Jason Smith (R-8) congratulated Brock Larsen of West Plains, Mo., for his appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point this fall. Out of all the qualified candidates throughout the district, Larsen was one of only four students to be nominated by Smith and then receive an appointment.

Smith praised Larsen’s talent and leadership skills and encouraged him to continue setting high goals for himself.

“A great privilege of my job is nominating excellent students from the 8th district to attend one of our U.S. Service Academies,” said Smith. “Brock Larsen is a bright young student who has faithfully served his community as an Eagle Scout and as president of many clubs at his high school. I wish Brock the best and know he will make Missouri proud as he takes this exciting – yet challenging - step in his pursuit of a military career.”

Smith is currently accepting applications for 2023 nominations to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
