Willow Springs pool update

Any lingering hope of a quick repair to the pool facilities and re-opening this summer evaporated with the scheduling of the first specialized work crews who will diagnose the problem that is causing the main pool to lose more than 20,000 gallons overnight.

Originally expected to be in Willow Springs last week, new information provided by the city of Willow Springs reveals the company, Westport Pool, now known as Landmark Aquatic, will be sending a company called American Leak Detection to Willow Springs on June 17 to pressure test the entire pool, according to City Administrator Beverly Hicks. This service alone will cost more than six thousand dollars. The pool must be completely drained before their arrival.

“As hopeful as I would like to be, in reality, it will not be opening this year,” wrote Hicks in an email to the News.

Repairs will not be possible prior to July 1, assuming the problem is diagnosed on June 17. Also, training lifeguards presents a timing problem due to the delay.

The Willow Springs board of aldermen originally learned of the large-scale leak during their regular meeting on May 19 and unanimously voted to closed the pool for the summer on that date.
